Braga is a city in the far north of Portugal, northeast of Porto. It’s known for its religious heritage and events. To the east, Bom Jesus do Monte complex has a neoclassical church atop an elaborate 17-flight stairway. How to get to Braga?

By Plane

The closest airport to Braga is the Sá Carneiro International Airport in Porto, apx. 50 km away. Sá Carneiro is served by regular flights from Faro and Lisbon, in Portugal, as well as via direct flights from Spain, the UK and other European cities and further afield.

By Car

For those looking for information on how to get to Braga by car, it couldn’t be simpler. Take the main A3 (also known as the E1 or IP1), which runs from north to south. Coming from the south, the road will take you via Porto, and coming from the north, it approaches via the nearby Spanish border. Simply take the A11 exit eastbound and the road will lead you conveniently into the centre of the city.

By Taxi

Taxis are also available from Sá Carneiro airport at a cost of around 50 euros. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes.

By Public Transportation

It is also possible to travel from Porto to Braga by train from the centrally located Sao Bento station or by a public bus from Porto Centre. To reach Braga from the airport, take the public bus, Aerobus or subway to either Sao Bento or Porto Centre. Bus to Braga leaves at least every hour and trains have their regular daily departures.
