Biography
Imrich Chlamtac holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota (1979) and B.Sci. and M.Sci. degrees in mathematics with Highest Distinction from Tel Aviv Univer-sity (1977). Dr. Chlamtac is the President of Create-Net, a European research consortium.
Dr. Chlamtac holds several honorary ap-pointments including the Bruno Kessler Honorary Professor, University of Trento, Italy, the Sackler Professorship at Tel Aviv University, Honorary Professorship at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the “`University Professorship”‘ at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE), Hungary, a Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Honorary Membership of the BUTE Senate. Dr. Chlamtac is the co-founder and past President of CONSIP,
the rst network emulator company, and of BCN, one of the largest system integrator companies in Central Europe.
Dr. Chlamtac is the founding Editor in Chief of the ACM/Springer Wireless Networks (WINET), the ACM/Springer Journal on Special Topics in Mobile Networks and Applications (MONET). Since 2007 Dr. Chlamtac was appointed as Chair of the Scientic Committee of ICST, where he leads the scientic strategy of the society, recognized in a 2008 DG-Infso report on European societies as leading European society listed after IEEE and ACM with well over a hundred conferences and workshops worldwide, over two dozen scientic journals and related activities dedicated to the pro-motion of ICT as the driving force for the evolution of society.
In 2009 Dr. Chlamtac was elected as President of the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) https://european-alliance.eu/, dedicated
to building grassroots innovation in Europe, and in the same year was instrumental in acquiring the KIC award from EIT as part of the Trentino Province eort in the ICT area.
